April 22, 2011. The Yuri Korchagin oil field is an offshore oil field in the Russian sector of the North Caspian Sea. The oil field is located 180 kilometres from Astrakhan and 240 kilometres from Makhachkala at a sea depth of 11–13 metres. The oil field is owned and operated by Lukoil Nizhnevolzhskneft, a subsidiary of Lukoil company. Pictured: offshore platform in the Yuri Korchagin oil field.

November 29, 2010. First Russian Offshore Oil Rig Platform built at Sevmash construction plant in Severodvinsk,Russia.`Prirazlomnaya` Oil Rig Platform is pictured harboured in Murmansk. The platform is to operate at the `Prirazlomnaya` field, north of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug in the Pechora Sea. It is built for 25 years of operation in tough climatic conditions. It has the capacity to store 126,000 tons of oil. The top platform part comes from the Hatton platform, which served in the North Sea. The `Prirazlomnaya` will be the first oil production field in the Russian North and a major experiment for the Russian oil industry.

August 18, 2010. The long-awaited opening of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was announced to be launched by the Russian Atomic Agency. A spokesman for the agency today the Nuclear Power Plant will come online on August 21st, 2010 and from that moment on it can be called operational. ‘The fuel will be charged in the reactor on August 21. From this moment, Bushehr will be considered a nuclear installation,’ Russia’s Atomic Agency Rosatom spokesman Sergei Novikov said. ‘This can be considered as the physical launch,’ he added. July 12, 2010. The 8000-year-old skeleton of a young man found near the village of Ohoden in Bulgaria has been taken to the Regional History Museum in Vratsa. The skeleton, already dubbed by the Bulgarian media as “the first European”, was discovered recently by archaeologist Georgi Ganetsovski who specializes in paleolithic settlements. It belonged to a 35-year-old man with a height of 165 cm.
