Russian village in the middle of nowhere | ||||||||||||||||||||
Russian village of Beketovo in Vologda region is located just about 500 km. from russian capital city of Moscow. But the village is actually cut from civilization and the only connection with the rest of the world is a narrow-gauge railroad which is a source of supply and communication for the village. The train comes to Beketovo only once in a week delivering food and all necessary things also allowing local people to travel in and out. Despite of such isolation people of Beketovo feel quite independent and are almost satisfied with their life. They even have a secondary school in Beketovo. In addition to a weekly train they can organize a trip outside the village to visit the `Big Land` using a personal trolley (hand car).
